Texture - Wrought Iron

In my DIY life I have been known to do a few projects for trade.  You know - "Wow, you want to sell that? What can I do for you that would enable me to take that off your hands?" I've done sewing, painting, cleaning, - even did a whole house makeover/design for the down payment for a house (I was buying the house from the person I did the makeover for).

To continue my "week of texture/nature" I thought I would highlight one of my favorite vignettes in my home.

There are many things I love about it, but for the purpose of this post I'll just focus on the table top and the porch posts.

The table top is an old wrought iron piece purchased for the redesign I mentioned earlier.  We had a piece of glass cut for the top of it because it was going to be used as a desktop.  The desk never happened and I was the lucky recipient of the leftovers! LUCKY ME!!!!  I love this thing.

It is just gorgeous!  I have thought of using it as a fireplace screen - but it is really huge and HEAVY and would probably break my leg or kill me if it fell over.  It is also a little too huge to fit in front of my little bitty fireplace.  Perhaps, when I have a loft with soaring walls and ceilings I can fulfill this vision.  In the meantime, it makes a darn nice table.

The texture on this puppy is just amazing.  It was a little more "painted" when I first started using it, but I used it on an open deck for a while and a lot of the paint melted off.  That's fine by me.

I found the porch spindles at an antique store in Frankenmuth, MI.  I could not resist them.  The paint on the shorter one is so is like 1/4 inch thick.

They were like $15 each - which is a little steep for my frugal mind, but I also found a few things there that were LESS than I would have paid so I guess it all worked out.

Hey - I love your comments, and would really like to know what you would do with this piece of wrought iron if it belonged to you.......

Make something wonderful today!

I think the table is just perfect. It is unique and I don't think you will find a better use for it.

Those finds are fabulous! I actually think the spindles were a great deal at $15 each. One of the gals at the shop I have a space at just brought some in and she wants $30 a piece for hers. Needless to say they won't be coming home with me. Thanx for joining the party!
