I'm pretty excited about my garage sale finds this weekend. I went to one garage sale 3 times. I only sorta broke my thrifting rules. I won't be using some of the stuff immediately, but I've got plans. Don't know exactly what the plans are....but I've got plans.
First let's let me tell you about my shameless copy - I bought this cute little food strainer, which if I hadn't seen an inspiration picture over at Funky Junk on Saturday morning, it never would have occurred to me to buy this cute little thing. You see, it appears that the new issue of Folk Magazine is featuring some fun and unusual way to plant flowers. Funky Junk was giving a sneak preview of some of the feature. I believe that this particular idea was from Michael over at Inspired By Charm. I gotta say, shameless copying really doesn't feel too shameful. I think this little food strainer planter is pretty dang cute. I paid 2 bucks for this little strainer with stand. The liner and plant cost 4 times more than the strainer. This is where I say "but it's sooooo cute" in the same accent you say "but it was ON SALE"......
I went back the second day hoping that they were in a bargaining mood. That's when I got all this:
See there on the left edge - do you know what that is?
These are what make me go Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!
Two ten foot ladders!
This little shoe polish caddy will be perfect for holding gardening tools. I've been wondering if shoe polish brushes would work for buffing wax on furniture so I'm going to clean these up and check that out. And that green lamp will be taken apart and be used in a VERY cool project - one that I will hopefully complete this summer.
And that really awesome old trunk had this in it:
Someday soon, we will read this paper together.
I spent $29 on everything.
Then I went with a friend to an estate sale. There was much to buy but I have too many projects piled up already so I just bought 2 old books. But for some silly reason I talked my friend into buying this:
I just love the frame, and I thought it was just her style if it was cleaned up. She got it for $2.00. Why on earth did I not just buy it myself??????
Then we were driving down the street and found these in a neighbors trash pile:
There were three, one large and two small. My friend took one of the small ones. They even fold up!
They're in pretty dang good shape. I just have to pick out a color of spray paint.
Don't you just love FREE things?
See ya later - you're going to love reading that newspaper!
Make something wonderful today!
My thrifty finds will be partying like crazy:
