Pre-Fall Mantel

I'm still rebelling against rushing into fall decorations. However, I am pretty enthralled with all the use of dried hydrangeas going on in fall decorations. That had been my plan as well. But now that I'm already three weeks behind all you fall rushers, I feel compelled to do something different for my fall mantel.

But wait. I'm not ready to do my fall mantel.

Because - say it with me - It. Is. Not. Fall.

But I had to dismantle (har har) my spring summer mantel to use some of the pieces for a photo shoot and I needed something for the mantel.

And then I decided it was time to start drying hydrangeas. It's a little early for me because I still have fresh blooms coming out on my hydrangea plants.

And everybody knows you have to wait to dry the hydrangeas until the blooms start to get a little papery.

So I cut the older blossoms and left the tender ones on the bush.

I gathered them up into pails of water.

And I put them on my mantel.

Voila!

A Pre-Fall mantel.

What do you think about these old wall heater parts as accessories? I love them. Quite a bit. I picked these up at Screen Door. They're a little quirky don't you think?

Make something wonderful today!

LOVE! Did you boil the water first? They'll stay fresh longer.

Those are quite quirky, Karen (love the way that rolls off the tongue). I am struggling to let go of summer this year, too. Usually I am jumping ahead to Fall. This year I am enjoying every last vestige of summer. You got it right, girl! xo Diana

I have learned more about hydrangea's from you girls! (Now I need to boil water for them?) I love your quirky heater parts and I'd probably hang them on the wall! What are they made of?
