2013 - A Pretty Dang Good Year

Well it's that time of year.

The time when all self-respecting bloggers put together posts that compile their best, or most-viewed, or most controversial, or most whatever posts. So like all good complying bloggers I'm going to compile.

I don't know what I'm going to compile, but I'm going to compile.

Now that I think about it, I think I will give out awards.

Awards from me.

To me.

Or rather, my posts.

But first I want to say thank you. Thank you to anyone who reads this little blog. I'm especially to all 7 of you who consistently leave me comments. Comments are nice.

Oh, and I'm thankful for all 126 of my Facebook followers. You rock. Really. I would hug you if you were here. I don't hug very many people.

Now for the awards.

Here goes . . .

Favorite paint color of the year:

This little "commode" was pretty worn out before I mixed up a bunch of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and made it what I think is a pretty dang amazing. You can check it out here.

Favorite place to shop in Ashville, NC:

If you didn't get to see the pictures from Screen Door, be sure and check them out. This is a don't miss place if you're around town. Or if you aren't. Read about it here.

Best visit to a fellow bloggers home:

Translation: Person you have never met or talked to other than online has invited you to visit and teach her to paint furniture. At my suggestion. Her husband was worried that I was an axe murderer. But I'm not.  Meet Danni at Silo Hill Farm here.  See the buffet we painted here. See the armoire we painted here.

Best furniture painted by me that isn't posted on my blog:

I did a guest post over at Dreaming In Color and never managed to get it posted here.  But you should see it. It's really good.  Click here to see more.

Favorite project made from recycled wood:

You know I have to make a recycled wood project ever now and then. Because I collect it.
And I really like this flag. Find out how to make it here.

Favorite mantle of the year:

Christmas of course. I may just leave it up all year.  See more here.

Favorite new purchase of the year:

My white Christmas tree. It's just too pretty for words. See it here.

Favorite bad photography of the year:

It was really bad so I had to PicMonkey it to life. I loved how it turned out.  See the pictures and a really good recipe (citrus of course) here.

Favorite new technique learned:

Reverse decoupage. It works. It's easy. It looks great. See? Check it out! And while you are at it, tell me what on earth this case was originally.

Most surprisingly successful post:

This post got more views than any original post I did this year. I have some posts from 2012 that still pretty much drive my traffic, but this was the best - numbers-wise - for 2013. So if you want to know How To Hang A Multi-level Plate Arrangement, this is your post.

The post with the most amazing art:

I only wish it were MY art. If you haven't visited this post before it is a MUST see. Look here to see a wonderfully artistic home!

Favorite repurposing post:

I love love love these shelves I made from an old (really old) piece of tin crown molding. They're gorgeous. You can find them here and the tutorial here.

And kids, there were more! I guess I got more accomplished this year than I imagined. I didn't get to tell you about my cakes, my lampshades, going to Haven, the barn sale, my son's wedding reception
. . . so many things!

I guess I'll consider myself lucky that you even made it this far down in this very long post!

Make something wonderful today!

Karen

Love all your projects! I'd totally missed your Xmas mantel. I always think mine is the best one I've ever done and then I do one the next year I like better. But I really did like this year's and may not change it next year....we'll see! I love your giant corbels used in your Xmas mantel.

Your projects rocked! I'm honored to be on your award list. That was fun! Also glad Sam was wrong..LOL! (But to be fair, you did have butcher knives in your trunk!!!!) I adore that flag and am jealous of that white tree. I did find a mini one after Christmas..and I do mean mini! Happy New Year to you!
