28 Things

1. It's that time of year.

2. When you feel like you are working your A$$ off and you seemingly have nothing to show for it.

3. But I've been working. Stooping. Pulling. Cutting. Raking. Filling bags with stuff for the yard debris pickup.

4. I DID clean the garage.

5. This doesn't look clean to most people I am sure.

6. Don't you see all that space?

7. I also helped Beckie move all of her store into one small little nook and a few closets.

8. Then I helped her paint the floor of the store.

9. It looks better. Like 100 times better. Like awesome.

10. I planted some pansies.

11. Planting pansies is something I never do. I'm usually too busy doing other things. See thing #3.

12. The jury is out on the pansies. If they don't fill out it won't be worth the $7.00 I spent.

13. The jury is in on using the milk can tops as a planter. I like it.

14. I will get some spillers to put in them for the summer.

15. I also planted some rosemary. I always plant it in the garden, but this year I planted it in buckets.

16. I spend too much time wandering around the garden - considering there is not much there yet.

17. I take great hope from little bitty green buds.

18. And first feeling, then seeing hostas come through is one of the joys of my life.

19. That doesn't say much about my life.

20. I still have my winter mantel up.

21. Having your winter mantel up and a spring mantel in my mind is too much limbo for me.

22. But it doesn't make me actually do anything about it.

23. It's time to transplant and plant some succulents.

24. I no longer have a chop-saw in my kitchen.  WhooHoo!!!!

25. I'm winding up to make a big-ass cake this weekend.

26. It's not for me.

27. I think my azaleas did not like 90+ inches of snow and all those really cold days...

28. And maybe my roses didn't like it so much either.

That's it.

By the way...28 is my favorite number. Then 2. Then 8.

What have you been doing?

I feel like you I've been working my arse off too and nothing to show for it. I feel like i have a thousand things going on and nothing finished. My roses and hydrangeas didn't do well with all the snow either this winter. Onward upward, keep on keeping on!

I think your garage looks great. Wish mine had that much space. I'm so impressed with your spring gardening. I just can't get my brain around a trip to the nursery this year. We're in a drought and you have had 90 inches of snow. Go figure!

I want the chippy turquoise bench. Too cute!

Wow! You've been really busy! I love the pansies in the milk can lids! Someone gave me an azalea, first one I ever had and i know nothing about them. Guess I should put it in the ground? Finishing up the final touch up painting and then moving in next week...finally. If it doesn't pour down rain.

You're funny, Karen - great post! Don't give up on those roses just yet - it looks as though there's some healthy plant there. Just barely nick a stem with your fingernail - if it's green, it'll be healthy, if just woody, cut back.

The jury came back from lunch, they give a verdict of 'yay' for the $7 pansies and the milk cans.

I have a couple of plants also (a hydrangea & a weigela) that look defeated by this past winter. I stare at them occasionally to see if that helps.

Wow, what a huge garage, room enough to store loads. I love the cabinet in the middle.
I also love all your different planters. I just planted up an old mop bucket, but looking at all of yours I want more !

I'm just jealous of how big your garage is!!! So much room. Which would be scary for me since my basement "storage" is busting at the seams and I can just imagine filling the garage and having no room for cars!

What kind of big a$$ cake are you making this weekend?

:) Linda

Yay! Thank you for sharing this post over at Fishtail Cottage's garden party this week - I can see you have a lot coming up and looks like you can still save that rose...the azalea ~ i'm not so sure about. I spent some time in the garden this week pulling a few things that didn't make it thru our winter. (sad) xoxo, tracie
