Slutty Brownies

A few nights ago while I was out cruising Pinterest, I almost went blind from lust when I saw this:

Just looking at them gives me writers block.  The only words that come to mind are ummmm, ooooo, aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, ooohhhh, -  you know?

A few clicks later I had them pinned to my Yummy & Lovely board with a note to "make these!" They are courtesy of What's Gabby Cooking?   She got the name and idea from The Londoner, but The Londoner used a cookie mix and a brownie mix.  Gabby used her favorite chocolate chip cookie and brownie recipes instead.  It is hard to imagine that no one (to my knowledge) ever thought of mixing three of the best things in the world - chocolate chip cookies, oreos, and brownies - into one glorious cookie bar.  Now THAT is ONE SLUTTY BROWNIE!!!!

When my friend The Reader saw my pin (she is one of my FOUR followers) she commented "make these SOON!"  Since she is coming over tonight to celebrate Mr Quirky's birthday - and she is NOT interested in Mr Quirky's cake - I decided to succumb to my lascivious nature and make them to go along with the cake.

uuuummmmm,    ooohhhhhhhh.  aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, yyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuuummmm........
(loosing my train of thought......

Oh yeah,   you might want to give these a try..... here is the recipe according to Gabby (the one I followed).

Slutty Brownies
Yield: 1 9x9 brownie pan
Serving Size: 16 brownies per recipe (I got more because I cut them smaller)

Heat oven to 350
Line a 9x9 pan with foil cut to fit the bottom - butter this (I usually butter a little under the lining as well so it stays in place better)

For the cookie layer:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temp)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cup AP flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the brownie layer:
  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup AP flour

For the Oreo Layer
  • about 30 oreos
For the Brownie layer:

In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter over medium high heat. Add the sugar and cocoa powder once the butter is melted. Whisk to combine and remove from heat.

Add the salt, vanilla and eggs and continuously whisk until the eggs are combined. Add the flour and continue to mix.

Put batter into a bowl and set aside.  (I took it out of the pan because the pan was still warm and I didn't want the batter to "cook")

For the Cookie Dough layer:

Cream together the butter and sugars in a mixer.

Add the eggs and vanilla, making sure to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl.

Add the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder and mix on low until everything is incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips. Set dough aside.

Layer 1/2 of the cookie dough on the bottom of a 9x9 baking pan, pressing down to form the bottom of the slutty brownies. Reserve the remaining cookie dough to be used to make cookies later in the day.

Layer as many oreos that will fit on top of the cookie dough. No need to overlap. One single layer will do.

Pour the brownie batter on top of the oreo layer and make sure it's evenly layers on top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes. Test with a knife to see if the center is done. If the knife comes out clean, they are done. If the knife comes out with batter still on it, allow the brownies to bake about 5 minutes more.  Don't over cook - if brownies a pulling away from sides and the center is mostly done, pull them out.

Let the brownies rest before serving.

Since you used the lining in the pan these will come right out after you loosen the edges - pull em out and cut em up!

Serve with ice cream (of course).

Since I was eating these for breakfast, I had them with coffee...

These Slutty Brownies are delicious.  Really. Delicious.  Really. Really. Delicious.  But........

I like these better...

There is just something about these I am speechless again......

You really can't go wrong - either way.

Make something wonderful today!

I found you on the blog hop hosted by live, laugh, rowe. I'm following you now. I had to leave a comment on this post because of the brownies...they look so good! Did you see Jessica Simpson on Jay Leno the other night talking about how she loved "slutty brownies"? So funny.

More importantly you made me realize I can pin recipes under 'Make These', duh. I'll be doing that from now on. Think I'm also gonna change up some of my own recipes and just add "slutty" to them because it sounds funny. Slutty Chicken Almond Salad.... Slutty Egg Foo Yung.....

Um, yeah, the only thing that would make these better is caramel. But that might be overkill, right? Visiting from The Girl Creative.
