Please Excuse Me While I Read

I like blogging.  I really do.  But sometimes it interrupts my reading.  Occasionally I find that when I am reading about how to braid garlic, or how to make really cute Anthropology inspired glasses - or I'm doing something like building pergolas, shopping for a beautiful pink vase,  or painting my hallway purple, my mind goes to my book friends and I think "I should give them a call and see how they are doing...."

Then I remember my book friends are not real.

And I am sad.

Because except for 4 or 10 very special friends and family, my book friends are the best people I know.

Today I'm going to blow off blogging and hang out with my new best friends.  Because they are going away on a space adventure and I want to go with them.

So enjoy your time here on earth today.  I am going to explore the Alpha Centuri world of Rakhat with Anne, George, Sophia, Jimmy and Emilio.  Ohhh, Emilio....

If you feel like joining us - you can do so by reading The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell

I won't be making anything wonderful today,

but you can!

Nope--Sydney Carton. I am a far, far better woman than Lucy Manette Darnay. If Sydney ever becomes real, I am all over that man like white on rice.

Enjoy our escape . . . getting lost in a good book is a marvelous way to spend a summer day.
Have fun, Connie :)

I should be reading, and I even thought earlier about how wonderful it would be to go to the library and return all the audio books I took for my recent roadtrip and then get a book and sit and read, but I had to mow the lawn... and clip the hibiscus bushes that were nearly to the roof. Life gets in the way. Happy reading. Maybe tomorrow I'll enjoy the moment while I'm still on vacation and read...that is if I'm not still trying to fix the washing machine. sigh.

Reading is my very favorite thing to do. Wish I had more time for it though.
